BLOOMING IN CABBAGETOWN
Late last year Blooming moved into Cabbagetown with a pop up shop at the front of Merry Berry who were slowly closing their restaurant. After a successful holiday season with the pop up, Anji, the owner of Blooming, closed to undertake some renovations and expand the shop’s offerings with a grand opening on Sunday January 28th. The updated space features fresh cut flowers, arrangements, home and garden decor with new items arriving often. (Valentine’s Day just got SO much easier.) Whether you are looking to grab a simple hostess gift or hire someone for outdoor planter work, check out Blooming and give ANji and the team a warm welcome!

BEST SAVOURY PIE IS IN CABBAGETOWN
Toronto.com recently published their list of Best Savoury Pies in Toronto and our very own House On Parliament made the cut! (No surprise there though.) Toronto.com wrote, “…the twist here is that House on Parliament does a British take on the Québécois tourtière. It contains a meaty mixture of ground beef, peas and celery, and is served with skin-on mashed potatoes, a sweet and spicy tomato chutney, and seasonal veg like mini peppers and broccolini.” Well, our mouths are watering! Congrats to House On Parliament for bringing another win to Cabbagetown. Between all our amazing restaurants, it is no wonder we keep using the hashtag #MoreThanCabbage on instagram 😉 Join us and post your food shots!

YOUR LENSES EXPLAINED
Did you know that the colour of the lens in your sunglasses makes a huge difference and different colours are better for different purposes/needs? The team at Parliament Optical explained to us that amber or brown lenses are good for golf, cricket and tennis as it will heightens contrast. Meanwhile grey lenses give your eye a more neutral, true color vision and that’s applicable in driving and motor sports. If you are in the market for some new shades, be sure to visit them in Cabbagetown where they can help you find the appropriate lenses, style and fit.
