#CabbagetownCares 2021 Lunch Program
January 21 - April 29
There’s no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened existing food insecurity for residents of Cabbagetown, St. James Town and Regent Park. Many small businesses are also reeling from the financial impacts brought on by the pandemic.
With this in mind, the Cabbagetown BIA is proud to be partnering with St. Luke’s United Church and Dixon Hall in a unique initiative that will provide healthy, well-balanced lunches for our most vulnerable residents while also supporting our local small business community.
Thanks to a combination of public and private donations, six local food-based businesses will each prepare over 100 lunches to be distributed in Allan Gardens every Thursday from January 21 to February 25th. Participating member businesses include: Chew Chew’s Diner, Daniel et Daniel, Pho U, The Epicure Shop and Tim Hortons. Generous donations in support of this initiative are also being provided by DOVA Restaurant & Matt’s No Frills.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with these incredible organizations to support our community’s most vulnerable and work together to address food insecurity, while also supporting our local businesses.
Update: Thanks to generous donations from the community, we have been able to extend this program until the end of April!
