The Tim Collins Band is a great time. We hope you can make it out to see us play and sing along to classic hits!

We're three former students of the Humber College music program, and we like each other, we like the music we play, and we like to see YOU having fun. With well over 1,000 hours combined experience on stage, me and my friends have seen many different musical situations. I've spent months at sea performing on cruise ships. I've played at weddings and parties in Toronto. And soon we'll come to Cabbagetown to rock the house. Hope to see you there!

Toronto All-Star Big Band

One of the most exciting bands around, the Toronto All-Star Big Band revives the spirit style and sound of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s – that golden age of the big bands.

Armed with brilliant programming, choreography and engaging cultural nostalgia, this vibrant cast of awesome young talent has earned its position at the top of list of presenters throughout Ontario and in the USA. Comprised of young musicians ages 18-24, TABB entertains audiences of all generations with classic big band selections originally performed by Frank Sinatra, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald and many more.


Yosel & The Yingles

Yosel & the Yingles are a klezmer and yiddish swing band made up of Joseph Landau (Accordion and Vox), Gram Whitty (Bass) and Jacob Gorzhaltsan (Clarinet). The band plays all of bubby and zaidy's favourite hits from the old world with a jazzy twist. You may not know the words but you don't have to be fluent to move your tuches!


The Sean Stanley Trio

The Sean Stanley Trio is a swing based Jazz band performing the music of Duke Ellington, Erroll Garner, Ray Charles, Lester Young as well as original compositions. Their music ranges from hot and fiery to smooth and sweet but is always based in Blues and improvisation.

Roger Scannura

Roger Scannura (Flamenco Guitarist/Composer) is an internationally recognized flamenco guitarist and a leading exponent of Nuevo Flamenco. Scannura was born on the history drenched island of Malta. His early schooling began at the Franciscan Monastery of St. Theresa where he was tutored in European history, Latin, fine art and art restoration. He has been immersed in music since early childhood and mastered the techniques and nuances of Flamenco guitar while in Spain for 12 years under the auspices of Pepe Habichuela and other gypsy masters.

He has toured Europe and North America as a soloist and as a Music Director for several flamenco dance companies. He is also a founder of the acclaimed Toronto based dance company Ritmo Flamenco. Scannura with his group has performed for prime ministers, dignitaries as well as an assortment of celebrities including, Russell Crowe and Sting.

Scannura has recorded eight CD’s of original flamenco music encompassing both traditional and modern styles. “Rarely is flamenco guitar played so eloquently with just the right amount of passion and grace”- 20th Century Guitar Magazine


George Crotty

Canadian cellist/composer George Crotty’s inquisitive eclecticism embraces fiddle-derived ornamentation, the agile one-finger gestures of Indian classical music, adapted electric guitar techniques, and the bold articulations of jazz bass. One half of the Loose Roots Duo with West Coast fiddler Gabriel Dubreuil, and leader of his titular world-jazz inflected Trio, the Toronto-based Crotty’s modernist genre-bending is heavily influenced by his hometown’s vibrant pluralism. 

The George Crotty Trio’s Four String Nomad (2019) showcases his expressive fluidity and modal orientation. Versed in many styles, the world-jazz outfit speaks an inclusive language drawing inspiration from all over. Their cross-cultural interplay draws on diverse influences within jazz and world music including post-bop, modal jazz, Indian Raga, and Arabic Maqam. Their second album 'Chronotope' will be released in July 2022. 

Following his graduation from the eminent Berklee College of Music, he joined a number of ensembles such as the Canadian Arabic Orchestra, Detroit-based National Arab Orchestra, and New York's Brooklyn Raga Massive in addition to collaborating with the likes of Darol Anger, Simon Shaheen, Paquito D'Rivera and Anat Cohen. From 2019-2020 he served as the cello chair on the North American tour of Broadway musical, The Band’s Visit.

Power of Soul

Power of Soul is a Toronto based soul/Motown/funk collective led by lead singer Shane Jacob Philips. They have been staples of the Toronto music scene for years, and can regularly be found playing at the Reservoir Lounge, Mrs Robinson, Function Bar and a variety of other venues in downtown Toronto. They play soul, funk and R&B from the 60’s and 70’s. Expect to hear everything from Stevie Wonder to Otis Redding to Marvin Gaye and everything in between.


Trombone Charlotte’s Tiger Band

September 11th, 12pm - 1pm

Charlotte McAfee-Brunner is a jazz trombonist and bandleader taking the Toronto scene by storm. Her band Trombonecharlotte's Tiger Band plays Traditional New Orleans style Jazz, with fun and fiery rhythms the whole family can dance to.

Gram Whitty (Bass) and Joseph Landau (Accordion and Guitar) round out this saucy trio.

Best enjoyed with friends and a Sazerac.


WEJam Toronto - Ukulele Sing & Play Along

August 18th, 6pm - 8pm
** Will be taking place in front of JetFuel.

Led by local musician/instructor Ronny Shinder of Ukezac, with Wendy Weston on UBass, we jam through a solid list of songs that are fun to sing and play together.

Tell your friends. Bring your own ukulele or whatever you've got. All levels welcome!


Joseph Landau

Joseph Landau is an accordionist and singer who plays folk hits from around the Globe. Everything from French Musettes to Bulgarian Tangos, and even a little Raffi for the whole family to enjoy.


Ella Frank

August 19th, 2 - 5 PM

Ella Marsh is a singer-songwriter, acoustic guitarist and Cabbagetown native. Ella’s music is folksy and thoughtful, and she’ll be playing some originals and familiar favourites.


Malia Love

August 27th, 4pm - 6pm

Malia began singing in a Gospel Choir as a young girl where she won multiple awards and excelled beyond anyone’s expectations.

Her powerful vocals and incredible dynamic range enables her to masterfully cover some of the greatest artists of our time including Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan.

Malia also has a portfolio of original music that reflects her sincere passion for human rights and inclusivity that she’s in the process of recording.


 

Franks & Beans

What do you get when you cross funk-soul covers with pop-songs through the ages? The Franks and Beans. This local Toronto band is sure to feed your hunger for live music. While none of the members are named Frank, they bring the musical fruit to have you dancing and singing along. No room for dessert after a show like this.

The Franks and Beans cover everything from James Brown to AC/DC to Lizzo. Pre-pandemic, you could catch them playing at the Imperial Pub on Friday nights. Most recently they took the stage at the new Toronto pop-up bar, “Trailhead Place”.

The band is comprised of Aaron Murray (keys), Jon Abrams (bass), James Leone (guitar), Corby Fine (drums) and Logan Cooper (vocals).


Bandology presents: Shan Fernando and Hayley Festeryga

September 2nd, 2pm - 4pm

Bandology is a non-profit organization that tries to bring more music to more kids. Bandology’s Play-A-Gig program helps to bring performance opportunities to all musicians who wish to share their talents and love of music with the community.

Shan Fernando is a GTA based artist and is best known as a singer/songwriter specializing in pop music. He writes his music with different themes in mind, including mental health, acceptance, and pursuing passions.

Hayley Festeryga is a student at the University of Western Ontario studying music. She sings a variety of music including pop, rock and classical music, and has also performed in many musicals at the National Theatre School of Drama.

The Jacques Russell Trio

An eclectic mix of blues, jump blues, trucker blues, jazz and pop, with a bunch of originals thrown in for good measure. All experienced musicians and performers, The Jacques Russell Trio features Michel Neray on lead vocals, guitar, archtop, resouke, guitar, and banjolele; Abbey Sholzberg on upright bass and snarky commentary; Pierre LeGendre on percussion, and sometimes Natalie Wong on Violin, Brianna Goldberg on guitar, and Jacques Russell himself!

"Crowd-pleasing, quirky acoustic!" — that's how one audience member described the JRT experience... and we agree! If you're looking for an eclectic mix of singer-songwriter, upbeat swing blues and fun covers, that's us! Hope you’ll join us!

Duo Lirica – Anne-Marie Ramos and Ernesto Ramirez

Toronto singers Anne-Marie Ramos and Ernesto Ramirez bring you their elegant classical voices to a shared program of Broadway classics, operatic favourites and folk songs from around the world.

Mexican tenor Ernesto Ramírez is garnering rave reviews for his distinctive Italianate sound, “wonderfully fluid line and brilliant high notes,” combined with his “suave, nuanced lyricism.” Ernesto recently debuted as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Mexico’s Opera de Leon, Rodolfo in La bohème with Pacific Northwest Opera, and sang his first Don Jose with Opera Kelowna’s Carmen and in concert with Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. Ernesto has performed to great acclaim for audiences in France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States. His first love was clarinet, and he continues to collaborate with fellow musicians in jazz, folk and crossover genres.

Canadian born Armenian-Indian soprano Anne-Marie Ramos is a graduate of University of Toronto, and has established herself in the world of oratorio, opera and musical theatre, singing the roles of Maria in West Side Story, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and Princess Tuptim in Stratford Festival’s The King and I.  Solo concert appearances include Mozart’s Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Guelph Chamber Choir. Anne-Marie was a featured soloist with Nathaniel Dett Chorale at The Glenn Gould Foundation’s concert, celebrating acclaimed soprano Jessye Norman. Ms. Ramos was recently honoured with the prestigious Tyrone Guthrie Award from The Stratford Festival of Canada for her contribution to the Arts.


Joseph Piilonen

Joseph Piilonen is a freelance guitarist and solo artist located right in Cabbagetown. He works for a variety of Toronto based musical groups, including Classic Albums Live and Tanika Charles, and has played at many of the venues in the downtown area (everywhere from Poetry Jazz Cafe, to the Reservoir Lounge to Roy Thomson Hall).

When playing solo, Joseph weaves textures by layering his own guitar to create a bed in which he can improvise over. He creates moody and soulful music that stirs up an emotionally-charged atmosphere.
