Have Your Say on Holiday Closures for Toronto Retail Businesses
Do you think retail businesses in Toronto should have more flexibility to open on holidays, or should current closure rules remain? Now’s your chance to share your feedback!
The City of Toronto is reviewing the Holiday Shopping Bylaw, which determines when retail businesses must close on certain holidays, including New Year’s Day, Family Day, Canada Day, and Christmas Day. While some businesses, such as pharmacies, small grocery stores, and those in designated tourist areas, are exempt, most retailers must remain closed.
City staff are assessing whether changes should be made and are looking for input from business owners, residents, and stakeholders. The survey is anonymous, takes about 15 minutes, and closes on March 4.
