Nov 4 Update: Parliament St Watermain Project

Please see below for the most recent schedule on the Parliament St Watermain Replacement project. If everything goes as planned, the contractor plans to demobilize off site in mid-December once they are done with the underground works and temporary restoration (pending weather conditions). Lanes will be opened and parking restrictions will be lifted until the spring of 2023 when they return for the permanent restoration works.

Project Timeline/Schedule

  • Watermain installation-Completed

  • Watermain testing-ongoing

    • Beginning Nov 21: Pressure testing and chlorination process ongoing with Toronto Water-Anticipated to last between 7 -10 days

    • Temporary restoration, and fence removal in the meantime while awaiting test results

  • Services transfer to the newly installed main to follow - tentatively until end of November

  • Initial watermain connections upon receipt of successful chlorination testing results

    • Plans to commence transfer of properties services including those connected to the bypass after passing test results

    • Multiple Crews to mobilize back onsite during which there will be lane restrictions in the construction area and scheduled water service impacts to businesses

    • Concrete trench restoration within in the roadway

  • Temporary restoration to any impacted concrete sidewalk areas to commence early December until mid December (pending weather conditions)

    • Concrete area restoration

    • Demobilization to be complete by mid-december and to last until spring 2023

  • Permanent Restoration (tentatively in spring 2023)

  • Mobilization

  • Milling and paving of the roadway and other impacted concrete areas not completed in 2022- To last tentatively for about 3-4 weeks
