May 2023 Update: Gerrard Complete Street Project

Gerrard Street from Sherborne Street to Parliament Street has road reconstruction planned due to the poor condition of the road. The road reconstruction is the most cost effective way to make major changes to a street.

Since 2022, the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division has been working on the Gerrard Complete Street Project. The proposed changes were scheduled to commence as a part of the 2023 road reconstruction and to fulfill the City’s commitment to the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan. The road reconstruction is now planned to commence in 2024, due to complexities of utility coordination at the Sherborne Street intersection, as well as the new the Ontario Regulation for Excess Soil Best Practices (0. Reg. 406/19). There is a need for additional geotechnical investigation in order to incorporate the green infrastructure details.
