Participate in the Cabbagetown Cares Fundraiser

Businesses: Join our March fundraiser to drive increased foot traffic, sales, & PR!

We are looking for business owners to sign up for the Cabbagetown Cares Fundraiser - a new initiative in partnership with Dixon Hall and St Luke's Church to raise money for their local meal programs while driving increased foot traffic and sales for Cabbagetown businesses, taking place from March 1 to March 31, 2024 - one month only.

Local meal programs and food banks have been struggling to keep up since COVID-19 due to a dramatic increase in demand and food insecurity. 

Note: This fundraiser is not just for restaurants - most businesses can participate!

But how can you participate?

 
The fundraiser works by having Cabbagetown businesses choose an item or service from their business where all or a portion of the proceeds from the sale of that item/service will be donated throughout the month of March. If you typically have high daily sales of a product, you may want to offer a smaller portion of sales, but if the product you choose is not normally as popular, we recommend donating a high percentage of the sale to get people in the door. We can be flexible and work with you to find something that fits! Some examples: 

  • 100% of proceeds of a specific dessert or appetizer, like spring rolls or arancini. 

  • 10% of proceeds of a haircut; or 100% of all proceeds of a specific hair product at your salon.

  • 100% of proceeds of a bottle of maple syrup at your artisan store, or a specialty drink, etc.

  • 15% of all proceeds of each tattoo appointment. 

  • 50% of proceeds of all greetings cards sold. 

  • 15% of proceeds of all baked goods sold at your coffee shop. 

  • 10% of all profits for the month.

What are the benefits of participating? 


By participating in this fundraiser, your business can join us in supporting local meal programs that directly support feeding people from our very own Cabbagetown, St James Town, and Regent Park communities. It is also great for your business! Your business will receive the following: 

  1. A window sticker for your business stating "This Business Supports the St Luke's Church and Dixon Hall Meal Programs"

  2. A tent card for your POS area about the fundraiser encouraging people to purchase. 

  3. Social media and e-blast promotions to 28,000+ followers about your business's participation in the fundraiser throughout the month-long campaign, encouraging them to visit & spend. 

  4. Inclusion in the Cabbagetown Cares PR campaign and press release.

  5. Positive PR as a participant of this fundraiser!

  6. 100% of your charitable donation will be tax-deductible.

PRIZE: As an added incentive, the business that collects the most money through the fundraiser for donation will WIN free advertising space at our Carlton + Parliament Astral transit shelter in 2024. Prize value: $3,500 each. Daily exposure: 32K+ people. See some examples below.
