REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: BIA BRAND REFRESH & DESIGN

Introduction

The Cabbagetown BIA (CBIA) is inviting proposals from qualified and professional graphic designers to produce an exciting design and brand refresh for our beloved neighbourhood. This initiative aims to revitalize our visual identity, enhance our community's appeal, and establish a compelling brand narrative that resonates with residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

All materials related to the CBIA brand work will remain the property of the CBIA and must be available to the organization beyond the terms of any agreements or contracts.

Submission Details

Please review the details below and submit your proposal in a single PDF document (to a maximum of two files, if the portfolio is separate) by email by Sunday, February 16, 2024, to bia@cabbagetownto.com with the Subject Line: Brand Refresh Design Submission. A comprehensive proposal must include three (3) references and outlining your design approach and process, portfolio showcasing relevant work, recommended timeline, and pricing/cost details. Only proposals that follow the aforementioned requested format will be considered. Otherwise, due to the creative nature of the work required, we wish to allow you the space to submit a proposal that best suits your style and abilities.

Scope of Work

  1. Brand Identity: Develop a refreshed and modern visual identity for Cabbagetown, including logo redesign, color palette, typography, and brand guidelines that encapsulate the essence and diversity of our neighbourhood.

  2. Creative Assets: Produce a range of digital creative assets, such as signage (Astral shelter and kiosk poster), social media graphics, and promotional collateral (letterhead, Mailchimp header, website banner, e-signature, logo), as required, that align with the rebranded identity. All materials should be provided in PDF, image, and editable files. We aim to complete the project by mid-late March.

Key Requirements

  1. Proven expertise in graphic design and branding with a strong portfolio showcasing successful rebranding projects.

  2. Understanding of technical specifications for large-scale outdoor graphics.

  3. Ability to meet with and connect with the CBIA Board of Management and staff when necessary (virtually or in person) throughout the design and drafting process. Note, the CBIA Board endeavours to be as clear and concise as possible about specific aspects we enjoy about our current branding and what we would like updated. 

  4. Ability to translate insights, direction, and story being told by the CBIA and our new Streetscape Masterplan into a compelling visual narrative.

  5. Experience doing graphic design work for a BIA, community, or municipality is a STRONG ASSET.

Budget

The Cabbagetown BIA has allocated a budget range of $2,000 - $4,000 for this project, encompassing design, branding, revisions, and deliverables.

We require three (3) professional references.  Have you ever worked with another BIA (Business Improvement Area)?  If so, please provide a written reference or contact name, email, and telephone. If not, provide three other professional references.
